The health care sector claimed the highest share of top jobs for 2025, with roles paying up to $385,000!
Health care jobs offer some of the most promising opportunities for 2025, thanks to a combination of high demand and competitive salaries, according to a new ranking done by Indeed, a job search platform.
Health care careers make up six of the top 25 job positions on the list, including veterinarian (ranked 1st), physician (3rd), clinical psychologist (8th), radiologist (14th), registered nurse (18th), and director of clinical services (22nd). This dominance highlights the sector’s strong position, marking the second consecutive year it has led the rankings.
Indeed’s report considered jobs that met three specific criteria: a minimum annual salary of $75,000, a growth rate of at least 20% in job offers over the past three years, and the availability of remote or hybrid work options in at least 5% of postings. Jobs were ranked based on their share of postings on the platform.

According to Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter, the health care field has experienced exceptionally fast growth. She described it as “relentless”, noting the consistent and robust expansion in job opportunities. Looking ahead, employment in the sector is expected to grow much faster than the average for all jobs in the U.S. between 2023 and 2033, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ projections.
“We don’t see any slowdown at all”, Pollak added.
In 2024, the U.S. economy added 902,000 jobs in health care and social assistance – more than double the number added in the next-highest sector, government, which grew by 480,000 jobs, according to the BLS.
Several factors contribute to this growth, including increased demand for medical care due to an aging population, workforce shortages due to retirements, and the relative resilience of health care jobs to automation and artificial intelligence, said Jennifer Herrity, a career expert at Indeed.
The Higher The Salaries The Harder It Is To Entry
Health care jobs often come with “surprisingly high” salaries, driven by strong demand, Pollak explained. For instance, radiologists – earning a median annual salary of $385,000 – are the highest-paid professionals on Indeed’s list.
The financial rewards, combined with job stability, make health care an appealing career choice. However, due to that, entering the field can be challenging, particularly for roles like radiology, which require extensive education and training – up to 13 years of schooling, according to Indeed.
For job seekers who want high-paying opportunities without major education requirements or investment, fields like sales might be worth exploring. Many sales representative positions require only a high school diploma and the right skill set. According to Indeed, sales reps earn a median annual salary of $182,000, providing an attractive option for those looking to join a fast-growing job market.
